Michele Polga

diplomato in sassofono al Conservatorio “Martini” di Bologna e in musica jazz al Conservatorio “Bomporti” di Trento con Franco D’Andrea. Frequenta i seminari estivi di Veneto Jazz e quelli di Siena Jazz vincendo la borsa di studio per le clinics IASJ (International Association of School of Jazz)  di David Liebman, che frequenterà l’anno successivo a Boston presso il Berklee College of Music. Ha suonato con Paolo Fresu, Marco Tamburini, Marcello Tonolo, Pietro Tonolo, Roberto Rossi, U.T. Gandhi, Sandro Gibellini, Valerio Abeni, Furio Di Castri, Claudio Fasoli,  Paolo Damiani, Tony Scott, Fabrizio Bosso, Luca Mannutza, Luca Bulgarelli, Nicola Conte, Franco D’Andrea, Paolo Birro, Alfred Kramer, Francesco Bearzatti, Wayne Dockery, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Maria Shneider, Cecil Bridgewater, Ben Riley, Dick Oatts, Paul Jeffrey, Rory Stuart, Charlie Pership, Ferenc Nemeth, Eliot Zigmund, Jeff Gardner, Andrea Pozza e altri.

graduated in saxophone at the Martini Conservatory of Bologna and in jazz at the Bomporti Conservatory of Trento with Franco D’Andrea. He has attended seminars at both Veneto Jazz and Siena Jazz, winning a scholarship to the IASJ (International Association of School of Jazz) clinics by David Liebman. Next year, he will attend a course in Boston at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. During his career, he has played with Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Fresu, Franco D’Andrea, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Maria Schneider, Jeff Gardner, Eliot Zigmund, Tino Derado,  Ferenc Nemeth, Paul Jeffrey,  and many others. What distinguishes Michele Polga, on a very broad international jazz scene, is his ability to phrase and the consistency of his solos. Among his Italian colleagues, he stands out for his understanding of the modern interpretation tradition, his high performance levels, and for the originality of his compositions. These aspects put him in the group of musicians who give unique performances worldwide.
